Introducing: Ron de Boer, owner and founder of Dutch Crane Support

Ron has built-up a special connection with Niron Staal, “It’s not my own company but it feels so good to be here and to be surrounded with such pleasant atmosphere.”

Asking Ron de Boer (50) what’s making Niron so special he explains; “Being a former employee of this company I know my way around, I know the personnel and I have a special connection with the work here. At this specific location I first came in contact with repair and maintenance of all sorts of cranes. From there on the interest and love for this type of work grew on me. I actually gained my know-how and knowledge of the material, cranes and different components that I use in my everyday work at the Niron Staal workplace”.

With this knowledge (and curiosity) at hand he founded his company in 2009 together with his wife and two additional employees. The family business became even more a family thing when his son Jeroen joined in to strengthen the workforce even more. “Dutch Crane Support is specialized in the repair of lifting hinges, mechanical works and framework. We’re also trying to convince companies of the benefits for premature identifying and anticipating on possible defaults. Most companies await until the damage or default has already occurred which is in fact more expensive to repair than premature identified defaults”.

The repair part is actually the moment where Niron Staal comes in, says de Boer. “The work which we outsource to Niron Staal includes the manufacturing of all sorts of (spare) parts, think of shafts, bushes, rings and wheels for example”. In the outsourcing process Ron is working one on one with Production & Planning Manager Bob van der Moolen (50). Together they have created a valued partnership between Niron Staal Amsterdam and Dutch Crane Support. De Boer: “For Bob a sketch and two words is more than enough to understand my needs. This sort of empathy and service is what makes my job a lot easier. With Bob, but also within Niron, the lines are short and the communications are clear. I can immediately switch between projects and call for their help when I need them to so that I can do what I do best: performing crane inspections, repairs, maintenance and modifications”.
